Third mission and research valorisation

Italian universities have undergone a paradigm shift (Law 240/2010, ANVUR requirements — AVA 3, VQR): the Third Mission is no longer a sum of individual initiatives but an institutional function to be planned, measured and evaluated. Departments must demonstrate a data-driven planning process connecting research to civil society, industry and institutions (Ministerial Decree 1154/2021).

Licosia is the publishing house of this circuit: scholarly publishing — including Open Access — is itself third mission, and it integrates with Stroncature’s dissemination platform: 1,500+ recorded presentations and debates, 11 million views and 7 million visitors in 2024, 200,000+ newsletter subscribers.
